Pretium Resources Inc. (PVG:TSX; PVG:NYSE) announced in a news release that phase 1 of the 2020 underground North Block resource expansion drilling extended high-grade mineralization at its northwestern British Columbia property, and "four intersections assayed above 1,000 grams per tonne gold."
"These initial results validate our view that there is exciting extension potential at the North Block zone of the Valley of the Kings deposit at Brucejack," President and CEO Jacques Perron said in the release. "In 2020 we made a commitment to significantly increase our resource expansion and exploration efforts going forward, and these results from this first phase certainly support that investment."
In this phase 1 campaign, Pretium drilled 38 holes over 7,011 meters (7,011m) from the mine's 1050 level, targeting an area as far north as 300 meters of the current resource shell.
This work identified three new zones of high-grade gold mineralization. One was an extension of the Domain 13 stockwork, currently being mined in the Valley of the Kings. Another was a corridor in the footwall of the Domain 13 structure, 300 meters north of the current resource shell. The third was within 50 meters of existing development.
Of the four intercepts that had a gold grade higher than 1,000 grams per tonne (1,000 g/t), one intercept, from hole VU-2794, showed 2,590 g/t gold over 1m. Another was from hole VU-2666, which showed 2,100 g/t gold over 1m.
With phase 2 of drilling, also finished last year, Pretium targeted an area up to 450 meters north of the current resource shell. Results of those holes are pending.
