Gold-focused exploration company Westhaven Gold Corp. (WHN:TSX.V) announced in a news release that it has now added a second drill rig to its Shovelnose gold property that is located 30 km south of Merritt, B.C. The firm noted that the Shovelnose property encompasses 17,623 hectares and is situated within the Spences Bridge Gold Belt, a highly prospective gold district.
Westhaven Gold advised that the second drill rig has been set up and deployed at the Shovelnose South Zone at a point located around 50 meters southwest of drill hole SN19-26. The company noted that previous drill results from that particular hole had returned 42.84 meters of 2.63 g/t gold and 27.80 g/t silver, including 15.46 meters of 4.80 g/t gold and 61.21 g/t silver.
The firm stated that the additional drill rig will be focused primarily on step-out and infill drilling at the South Zone. The company pointed out that the main objective of its current 2021 drill program is to complete a maiden resource on the South Zone.
Westhaven noted that the Shovelnose property lies close to a major highway and has convenient access to power and rail lines. The property is also proximal to other large producing mines and is within commuting distance of Merritt, B.C., thus reducing overall operating costs. The company reiterated that including Shovelnose it has a controlling interest in four 100%-owned gold properties spread along the Spences Bridge Gold Belt that have been largely underexplored.
