In a news release, Silver Viper Minerals Corp. (VIPR:TSX.V; VIPRF:OTCQB) announced drill and metallurgical test results from its La Virginia project in Mexico.
The company noted that it conducted "exploration drilling at El Rubi and new target areas Rubi North and El Molino, as well as from five holes which tested the southern projection of El Rubi."
Twelve of the holes being reported were drilled in the El Rubi area. Half were reconnaissance in nature. Highlight hole LV20-277, drilled in the western section, encountered some high-grade zones. Assays included 2.9 meters (2.9m) of 275 grams per ton (275 g/t) silver and 5.21 g/t gold, including 1.5m of 493 g/t silver and 9.46 g/t gold.
Five additional reported holes tested the southern extension of El Rubi. All of them encountered mineralization 300 meters south of and along trend from El Rubi, in what is being called El Rubi South.
Notable gold results there came from hole LV20-270, which hit two zones of mineralization. Intercepts included 0.5m of 2 g/t gold at 218m downhole and 0.5m of 7.03 g/t gold at 223.5m downhole. Hole LV20-267 produced the best silver results, 0.8m of 78 g/t.
Results of drilling El Rubi North and El Molino were "generally low," the release noted. Hole LV20-271 drilled in El Rubi North returned 11m of 34 g/t silver and 0.44 g/t gold, including an interval of 1m of 92 g/t silver and 1.47 g/t gold. Intercepts from El Molino included 1.2m of 23 g/t silver in hole LV20-253E and 1m of 1 g/t gold in hole LV20-255E.
Regarding metallurgical testing, initial results from El Rubi "signal excellent recoveries [are] possible," the released noted. Specifically, bottle roll leach tests done on four 500-gram composites showed 90–95% gold dissolution and 62–76% silver dissolution.
Silver Viper is finishing its field work at La Virginia for the season.
Silver Viper's President and CEO Steve Cope stated, "Exploration continues at the project and we are happy to report that the drilling continues to advance at a steady pace. The reconnaissance drill testing in the outlying areas of the Rubi plateau is now complete and we have returned our attention to the main El Rubi area in order to extend known mineralization and to firm up our understanding of the structural controls within discovery area."
