In a news release, Metallic Minerals Corp. (MMG:TSX.V; MMNGF:OTCMKTS) announced it completed its 2020 drill program at its Keno Hill silver project and earlier stage McKay and Silver Hill.
Starting in August 2020 and with two rigs, Metallic Minerals drilled 42 holes over 5,318 meters (5,318m) in two phases. The first phase consisted of 30 reverse circulation holes drilled in anomalies discovered last year in the East Keno and Central Keno target areas.
"With the confirmation in drilling of multiple zones of Keno-style sulphides and significant structures in these first ever drill holes at Keno East, this program has opened a huge area of prospective stratigraphy for exploration to the east of the Keno Hill mine," CEO and Chairman Greg Johnson said in the release.
The second phase of drilling consisted of two components. One was stepout drilling done with 12 diamond drill holes over 2,674 meters in the advanced targets at West Keno, including Formo and Silver Queen. The other part was five reconnaissance reverse circulation holes drilled at the McKay Hill project, north of Keno Hill, to test two major structural corridors containing soil and rock anomalies.
"Results at the advanced-stage targets continue to expand the areas of known high-grade silver mineralization," added Johnson.
Metallic Minerals expects to receive the first results of drilling and surface sampling by year-end. In the meantime, its technical team is working on compiling and interpreting the findings.
