In a news release, Vancouver-based mineral explorer Grande Portage Resources Ltd. (GPG:TSX.V; GPTRF:OTCQB; GPB:FSE) announced "additional assay results from its recently completed drill program at its Herbert Gold Project located in S.E Alaska."
The company advised that the latest results pertain to data collected from Pad T, which focused testing on the North, Goat, Sleeping Giant, Ridge and Main veins. The firm advised that it will disclose the results obtained from Pads H, U, Y and the balance of T in future news releases.
Grande Portage Resources pointed out that both the Main and Goat veins are potentially well mineralized and constitute future drill targets. The firm stated that the "most notable among the veins found in the structural block between the Goat and the Main veins are the Ridge, the North Strand of the Main vein and the newly recognized Sleeping Giant."
Drilling on the Goat vein from Pad T, the company noted, was designed to test the eastern limits of the mineralization. "Hole 20T-5 was the eastern-most hole drilled from this platform (about 200 meters east of previous drilling) and intersected approximately 5 meters of strong shearing and hydrothermal alteration, confirming the continuance of the mineralized structure," the company stated in the release.
The company highlighted that just 30 meters into hole 20T-6 a satellite structure of the Goat vein returned 1.62 meters of 15.27 g/t Au containing visible gold in the core. The firm added that closely nearby, hole 20T-7 revealed a 7-meter intercept in the Goat vein, which contained 3.74 meters of 10.527 g/t Au, which included a 68cm section containing 51.33 g/t Au. The company also reported that hole 20T-3 returned 2.71 meters of 52.34 g/t Au, which contained a 54-cm sample assaying 256.9 g/t Au.
Grande Portage indicated that holes drilled from Pad T also tested the Main vein and that so far it has received assay results for six of these holes. The company noted that hole 20T-7 from the Main vein assayed 2.91 meters of 7.083 g/t Au, and hole 20T-8 recorded 2.63 meters of 18.674 g/t Au.
The firm stated that in 2020 utilizing two drill rigs, it drilled a total of 8,375 meters and completed 21 holes into eight primary veins as well as numerous subsidiary veins and structures in between. The company expects to receive more sample results over the next two months.
Grande Portage Resources' President Ian Klassen commented, "We are delighted with these results. These assays confirm further extension of the mineralization to depth and to the east of any previous known drilling. The results continue to demonstrate that the Herbert discovery is a high value mineralized system."
