Troilus Gold Corp. (TLG:TSX; CHXMF:OTCQB) announced in a news release it recovered the highest gold grades ever at its Troilus gold project and in outcrop of the greenstone belt in which it is located, the Frôtet-Evans, in Quebec.
These results are from the in situ samples taken at the Troilus project's Testard target, which is about 10 kilometers (10 km) to the south of the main mineral resource area and mine site.
"What's particularly exciting about these results is that the geological characteristics of the Testard zone and host rock are not only the same as our main mineral resource zones, including the newest Southwest zone discovered earlier this year, but also hold many geological similarities to the recently announced Beyan gold zone discovery and the Goldfield Boulder zone discovery, located 8 km and 36 km from the Troilus mine site," CEO Justin Reid said in the release.
Sample Y939452, which was taken from Testard outcrop, returned 203 grams per ton (203 g/t) gold, 2,440 g/t silver and 4.37% copper. Additional samples showed gold with grades of 54.2 13.55, 8.44, 8.25, and 2.35 g/t. As far as additional silver grades, samples Y346903 and Y346902 returned 31.5 g/t and 13.4 g/t, respectively.
"The mineralization occurs within a 35–45 meter wide zone of brittle deformation and quartz vein swarms, hosted within a broad, undelineated intrusive tonalite package," the release noted.
Troilus Gold is awaiting results from 35 surface samples that it took from the Testard target area and plans to conduct additional work to better define the zone.
