Liberty Gold Corp. (LGD:TSX; LGDTF:OTCQB) announced in a news release results from phase 2 metallurgical testing on oxide material from core taken from its Black Pine project in Idaho.
"The high and rapid recoveries, relatively insensitive to crush size, continue to support simple heap-leach processing," the release noted.
The 29 column leach tests that were performed produced gold extraction up to 94.5% and a weighted average of 82.9%, the company reported. "Gold extraction was rapid, with >80% of the leachable gold extracted within the first 10 days of column leaching. Percent gold extraction is well-correlated with head grade, with the highest-grade composites returning the highest extraction numbers," the release stated.
The 29 coarse bottle roll tests yielded these weighted average gold extractions: 78.8% general, 81.5% direct leach and 84.1% carbon in leach.
The company noted that these phase 2 results are consistent with those of historical tests: Noranda's 1988 column tests and Liberty Gold's phase 1 metallurgical tests.
Initial testing of material from Black Pine's Rangefront zone, which is about 2.5 kilometers south of D-2, resulted in up to 81.5% gold extraction from four composites.
"We are extremely pleased with the results from our bulk sample and variability column testing programs at Black Pine, which compare well with other oxide heap-leach operations and development projects in the Great Basin," Vice President of Exploration and Geoscience Moira Smith said in the release.
Liberty Gold is scheduled to start large diameter core drilling on Aug. 19 in the D-3, D-1 Southeast Extension, F and M zones for phase 3 metallurgical testing.
