Blackrock Gold Corp. (BRC:TSX.V; BKRRF:OTCMKTS) announced in a news release the results of its maiden hole drilled in the Victor target at its Tonopah West project in Nevada.
"Our first drill hole, having encountered multiple significant high-grade veins, is nothing short of remarkable," President and CEO Andrew Pollard said in the release.
TW20-001, the first of three to test a downplunge extension of a mineralized shoot in the Victor Vein target, intersected the silver-gold zone and extended the Victor vein by 30 meters (30m) downplunge with the intersection of 965 grams per ton (865 g/t) silver equivalent (Ag eq) over 29m, using a 400 g/t Ag eq cutoff grade.
Also, the hole intersected two unknown veins above the main Victor zone. One of them returned 3m grading 2,198 g/t Ag eq, and the other showed 3m grading 465 g/t Ag eq. "All zones carried quartz vein material with black sulphides associated with the quartz veins," the release noted. TW20-001 ended unexpectedly in historic workings.
Holes TW20-002 and TW20-003 intersected vein material with black sulfides, too. Assay results are pending, but if they are positive, these holes will extend the mineralized zone another 170m downplunge, the company noted.
"Our modeling of the vein systems appears to line up as predicted," Pollard added.
Given the encouraging results, Vancouver-based Blackrock noted it is mobilizing a core drill rig to follow up on them and is expanding the drill campaign beyond the previously planned 7,000 meters. At the same time, drilling continues at Tonopah West's Denver, Paymaster and Bermuda targets.
