In a news release, Patriot One Technologies Inc. (PAT:TSX; PTOTF:OTCQX) announced on May 27 that Xtract Technologies, its subsidiary specializing in artificial intelligence (AI), secured a CA$199,000 contract with Canada's Department of National Defense.
The Public Works and Government Services Canada Division granted the contract to Patriot One as part of the Innovation for Defense Excellence and Security, or IDEaS, program.
The contract calls for Xtract AI to work on solving several existing problems with the concealment of Canadian soldiers and their vehicles in the field. To achieve this, the company will employ new advances in deep learning and computer vision and novel deep learning technology to develop a system that can assess how effective concealment and camouflage technologies or materials are.
That new system then will guide Xtract in developing technologies that accomplish two aims. One is effectively reducing visual and infrared detection of soldiers and vehicles. The second is enhancing the performance of the materials designed to eliminate detection in various environments in real time.
"Utilizing Xtract AI's knowledge of artificial intelligence, and data and video analysis, we hope to be able to assist the Canadian Army in their ability to operate covertly, thus keeping our soldiers safer," Patriot One CEO Martin Cronin said in the release.
