In a news release, Vancouver-based Mineral Mountain Resources Ltd. (MMV:TSX.V) provided an update on its in-progress Phase 2 drill program targeting the Shear zone at its Standby gold project in South Dakota.
As of Feb. 15, 2020, the company drilled seven holes covering 2,522 meters (2,522m). The four holes that tested the downdip extension of Target #1 encountered "wide, quartz flooded and mineralized intervals showing strong hydrothermal chlorite alteration accompanied by 5–15% pyrrhotite and 5% arsenopyrite mineralization within sheared cummingtonite-chlorite-chert Rochford Iron Formation," the release noted. The holes intersected the downdip extension to a vertical depth of about 600m.
"The last and deepest hole to test Target #1, ST20-014, intersected a 60.56m interval of highly altered, sheared and mineralized Rochford Iron Formation, one of the better looking mineralized holes drilled to date!" President and CEO Nelson W. Baker said in the release.
Also of note, through airborne acoustic electromagnetic geophysical modeling, Mineral Mountain defined a new, large target that accounts for 57–60% of the Homestake deposit size. Part of it is in the Shear zone.
As for Target #2, which is located a further 750m downplunge, Mineral Mountain will test it, from site #10, with three drill holes, one trunk and two wedge, covering 3,600m.
