Dunnedin Ventures Inc. (DVI:TSX.V) hit a new discovery on drilling at its MPD copper-gold porphyry project in southern British Columbia, the company announced in a news release.
The company intersected the new discovery, the Gate zone, through drill hole MPD-19-003. Gate "underlies a large copper-in-soil anomaly with over 1 kilometer of strike at the 'Prime' area of the project," the release noted. (A large, potentially multicenter porphyry system across 10 square kilometers at MPD had been defined through historical drill holes.)
Of all the drill core areas reported to date, Gate contained the highest copper-gold mineralization. That mineralization sits within a broad, lower grade interval and extends from near surface to a vertical depth of 800 meters (800m) where it remains open.
Higher grade intercepts included 74.9m of 0.54% copper equivalent from 297–371.9m and 102m of 0.68% copper equivalent from 404.9–507m.
One of the moderate grade intervals was 763.6m of 0.28% copper equivalent from 52.3–816m, or the entire drill hole length in the bedrock.
The bornite and potassic feldspar alteration that was seen indicates the porphyry system is upright and intact and its mineralization likely increases at depth, the company indicated.
"Our original geological thesis has proven to be correct: We have confirmed significant zones of higher grade copper-gold mineralization at MPD, with mineralization present right from bedrock surface," Chairman of the Board Chris Taylor said in the release.
