Eastmain Resources Inc. (ER:TSX) announced in a news release the results of its fall 2018 and winter 2019 drilling programs at the Éléonore South joint venture project in James Bay, Quebec. The partners are Newmont Goldcorp and Azimut Exploration.
Drilling, which consisted of 26 holes over 7,365 meters (7,365m), targeted a 1.3 kilometer strike length of the Cheechoo tonalitic intrusion within the Contact and Moni trends. It also tested for further mineralization along the sedimentary-tonalite contact to the southwest of the Contact trend and to the northwest at the JT prospect.
Highlight intercepts, both from the Contact trend, included those from ES19-157, which returned 1.02 grams per ton (1.02 g/t) gold over 92m, including 7.36 g/t gold over 8.2m, at a 152m vertical depth.
Hole ES19-156 returned 7.44 g/t gold over 9.7m, including 63.2 g/t gold over 0.8m, at a 111m vertical depth.
The compilation of all previous drill data "defined domains for altered and unaltered tonalite, pegmatite-affected tonalite, lamprophyre and adjacent metasediments," the release noted.
"The drilling has been quite positive for the understanding of the sheer size of the Moni and Contact trend discoveries," Claude Lemasson, president and CEO of Eastmain, the project operator, said in the release. "Over a zone extending 1.3 km by 0.75 km to a depth of at least 250m, our exploration drilling continues to build the near surface mineralized zone within the tonalite intrusion."
Eastmain is currently carrying out a surface exploration program it started in August.
