Benchmark Metals Inc. (BNCH:TSX.V; CYRTF:OTCQB) reported in a news release results from the first hole drilled in the Amethyst Gold Breccia (AGB) zone at its Lawyers project in British Columbia's Golden Triangle.
This maiden hole was the first drilled at the AGB zone in 27 years, since the past-producing Lawyers gold-silver mine was shuttered.
The hole, 19AGBDD001, encountered high grades over significant widths in addition to an unrecognized, broader, 25 meter (25m), mineralization and alteration envelope. Specifically, the hole intersected grades of 2.79 grams per ton (2.79 g/t) gold and 177 g/t silver, very similar to those reported recently from the Cliff Creek zone located about 500m to the west.
The 19AGBDD001 result included 7m of 5.37 g/t gold and 214 g/t silver along with 2.1m of 10.02 g/t gold and 654 g/t silver.
The ABG zone has an estimated strike length of at least 550m, width of 30m and extension to a minimum of 170m at depth.
"The discovery of significantly greater-than-historical mineralized volumes at AGB enhances the potential to add resources to the Lawyers project, while AGB still remains open to the north and south," CEO John Williamson said in the release. The underexploration of the area in the past provides opportunities today to discover additional silver and gold mineralization.
Assays are pending for holes 19AGBDD002 through 19AGBDD004. Benchmark is drilling a fifth hole in the AGB zone now.
