Gatling Exploration Inc. (GTR:TSX.V; GATGF:OTCMKTS) reported in a news release the findings from its surface exploration work at the Kir Vit zone of the Larder gold project in Ontario's Abitibi belt.
The company determined the presence of high-grade gold at surface, specifically 7 grams per ton gold and 6.7 grams per ton gold.
It also confirmed Kir Vit's geology, that it features both "intrusive-style mineralization and Timiskaming conglomerate mineralization," according to the release. Altered mafic rocks close to both mineralized trends indicate late-stage mineralization and hydrothermal alteration. Several alteration assemblages suggest a sizable hydrothermal footprint there.
Finally, the Canadian explorer discovered that Kir Vit has characteristics similar to those of nearby deposits, such as Agnico Eagle's Upper Beaver with porphyry-style mineralization.
Now, Gatling is drilling 3,500 meters at Kir Vit. So far, drilling "exposed heavily altered syenites, altered volcanics, quartz-carbonate breccia patches and multiple lenses of conglomerate," the release noted. The company will report drill hole assays when they are available.
