Liberty Gold Corp. (LGD:TSX) announced in a news release that results and conclusions from phase 2 metallurgical testing on oxide material from its Goldstrike project were in line with those from phase 1 testing, "providing additional support for a simple heap-leach mining scenario."
Extraction at the southwestern Utah property came in a bit lower in phase 2 than in phase 1, at 84.2% versus 85.9%. This is due to a lower grade of the newest composites, at 0.669 grams per ton (0.669 g/t) gold versus 1.196 g/t gold.
"The results are exceptional and continue to support our belief that a high percentage of the gold can be rapidly recovered in a simple, low cost, heap-leach operation," President and CEO Cal Everett said in the release. "Consistent results have now been confirmed along the initial 7 kilometers of strike of the Goldstrike oxide gold system."
In phase 2, gold was extracted from 29 columns, taking the total to date for the property to 49. Extractions were rapid, with greater than 80% of the leachable gold being extracted within 10 days. Final column leach gold extractions ranged up to 95%.
Columns were deactivated after 50 days instead of the typical 90 because leaching was done.
