ProMIS Neurosciences Inc. (PMN:TSX; ARFXF:OTCQB) announced in a news release it identified several novel antibody candidates that selectively bind to the toxic form of tau, which, with the toxic oligomer of amyloid beta, is thought to be at the root of Alzheimer's disease.
The company is developing therapeutics to selectively target both of these neurotoxic proteins.
"We're proud that our pipeline may offer the critical one-two punch to neutralize both of these toxic oligomers and offer potential disease-modifying therapy that this patient community so desperately needs and deserves," Dr. Neil Cashman, ProMIS' chief sciences officer, said in the release.
ProMIS' platform selectively targets a protein's neurotoxic form while sparing its normal forms.
