Great Bear Resources Ltd. (GBR:TSX.V; GTBDF:OTC) announced in a news release drill results from the Hinge and the Limb zones at its Dixie project in Ontario's Red Lake district.
The purpose of the Dixie Hinge holes was to continue testing that zone along strike and at depth. Because some of the Dixie Hinge zone holes crossed the adjacent Dixie Limb zone at shallow depths, the company could test both zones via the same drill holes.
As for Dixie Hinge, it continued to expand as the holes moved further out along strike and at depth. In the system of that zone, hole DHZ-031 hit four significant gold-bearing quartz veins along a 141 meter (141m) wide interval of increased quartz veining and alteration.
Highlight gold assays from that hole were 7.25m of 30.15 grams per ton (30.15 g/t), including 1.5m of 130.49 g/t, 4m of 11.72 g/t and 0.5m of 60.72 g/t. These high-grade intercepts occurred 20–60m west of previously reported drill hole DHZ-023, which also hit mineralization, 3.4m of 31.60 g/t gold. "The scale and strength of near-surface, multiveined gold mineralization at the Hinge zone continues to impress," President and CEO Chris Taylor said in the release.
Regarding Dixie Limb, it continues to "define shallow, wide intervals of gold mineralization, including high-grade subintervals," according to the release. Shallow drilling there demonstrated gold intercepts such as 39.2m of 2.07 g/t beginning at about 25m depth, including 9.2m of 5.43 g/t and including 0.7m of 20.46 g/t.
The results of four stepout holes completed outside of the Dixie Hinge zone indicated the need for follow-up drilling. Holes DHZ-024 and DHZ-025 intersected anomalous gold whose intercepts confirm the presence of gold in this new area. Gold assays were 0.92m of 1.46 g/t and 0.5m of 1.52 g/t.
Holes DL-038 and DL-039 hit a new "gold-mineralized silicified sediment zone similar to the Dixie Limb," the release noted. Intercepts suggested there is either a continuation of the Dixie Limb zone or a new zone of gold mineralized sediments there.
