Aben Resources Ltd. (ABN:TSX.V; ABNAF:OTCQB) discovered high-grade gold mineralization in the Lost Ace zone of its Justin project in the Yukon, it announced in a news release.
This finding came out of its 2018 exploration program at Justin, in which Aben took 19 channel and 28 chip samples from five trenches, 16 rock samples, 7 till samples and 240 soil samples, all from an area spanning 6 line kilometers. The campaign focused on Lost Ace, which had been shown in 2017 to bear gold. That zone is 2 kilometers west of the POW zone, which in the past demonstrated the potential for bulk tonnage gold mineralization.
Aben's 2018 work at Justin showed a new zone of mineralization in Lost Ace, at the northern end of a 250 meter (250m) "gold-in-soil soil anomaly that remains open in all directions," according to the release. The new discovery "highlights the existence of a multiphase hydrothermal system with the potential for overprinting mineralizing systems."
Specifically, trench TR18-001 returned gold values that averaged 20.8 grams per ton (20.8 g/t) over 4.4m, including 88.2 g/t gold over 1m. Trench TR18-003 returned 0.9 g/t gold also over 1m.
Additional exploration upside exists at Justin in that several high-priority targets within 1 kilometer of the POW zone remain untested and could further expand the gold system there.
