Lithoquest Diamonds Inc. (LDI:TSX.V; CWVWF.OTCPK) announced in a news release that an octahedral microdiamond and numerous kimberlite indicator minerals (KIMs) were recovered during the 2018 field program at its North Kimberley project in Western Australia.
As part of the recently completed campaign, Lithoquest obtained 22 samples from prospective areas of stream sediment and loam on the property, after which Diamond Recovery Services analyzed them for KIMs.
The independent Australian laboratory reported that 13 of the samples contained KIMs, 3,000 chromite grains in one sample for instance. Another sample contained a microdiamond. Several samples contained picroilmenite grains. "The presence of this concentration of indicator minerals suggests that the samples were collected close to a kimberlite source," the release noted.
This year, Lithoquest also recovered about 130 kilograms of kimberlite core from target 1804 at North Kimberley. Currently, the Saskatchewan Research Council is processing select selections of it for KIMs then it will analyze the submitted core in its entirety for microdiamonds. Results are expected in January 2019.
In other news, the airborne magnetic and radiometric survey, in which 7,550 line-kilometers of data were collected, is now done. Lithoquest will use the results to delineate and select targets for next year's drill program, paying special attention to areas in which high-interest KIMs were recovered.
