On Sept. 20, Allegiant Gold Ltd. (AUAU:TSX.V; AUXXF:OTCQX) completed drilling at Red Hills, one of its six target projects in Nevada that comprise its current discovery campaign. Subsequently, the company began drilling at the next, Hughes Canyon.
The Red Hills program encompassed drilling of nine holes for 2,342 meters, assays for which are pending. Seven of those holes, drilled in a covered flat, were directed at a buried intrusive and its margin. The other two tested a structure in the southern part of Red Hills, where ''surface sampling had returned high trace elements and encouraging gold grades," noted the news release.
Looking forward, the Hughes Canyon program will consist of 12 drill holes totaling 2,550 meters. Aimed at geophysical and geochemical anomalies, the holes will be drilled "on the pediment immediately west of the Hughes Canyon gold showing along the western margin of the Stillwater Range," according to the release.
