Orestone Mining Corp. (ORS:TSXV; ORESF; OTC; O2R2:FSE) announced the expansion of its Francisca Gold-Silver project on June 4, 2026. The company has acquired the Francisca II concession and purchased historical geophysical survey data from the current and new land positions. With this acquisition, the project now consists of 23 squared kilometers of mineral concessions in the Salta province of Argentina. The company's mineralized trend now covers a northwest strike length of 1,500 meters (m) where an oxide gold-silver stockwork is visible at surface in the North cluster, South zone, and Kelly zone. The company paid US$104,000 for the Francisca II project.
Orestone reported, "The outcropping zones are surrounded by a 500-to-1,000-metre-wide area of strongly hornfels-altered sediments, further defined by a 1,700-metre-long-by-500-to-700-metre-wide induced polarization chargeability anomaly of 7.9 millovolts per volt that appears to be related to gold-silver mineralization. Several large, strong IP chargeability anomalies measuring up to 20 mV/V indicate the potential for a larger buried gold porphyry. The oxide gold quartz limonite stockwork trend is associated with quartz feldspar porphyry intrusive dikes and intense sericite clay alteration along a northwest-trending fault system."
The data acquired by the company consists of results of a time domain induced polarization, resistivity, and total field magnet surveys from March 1999. These surveys cover Francisca I, Francisca II, and the Flamingo I concessions that Orestone now owns.
David Hottman, CEO of Orestone, said in the release: "The Francisca II concession is a meaningful addition to our land position at Francisca. The mineralized trend taking shape is being derisked through methodical exploration to define drill targets. Results from the initial mapping and sampling program are very encouraging and demonstrate that a robust gold system is present and is partially exposed on the surface while the recently acquired geophysical data is showing us a potentially much larger system at depth. Results from the recent exploration program are being compiled in preparation for a phase I drilling program."
Orestone is a Canadian company, and its portfolio includes exposure to gold, silver, and copper on properties in Canada and Argentina. The company can earn up to 85% interest in the Francisca property, noting that exploration can be conducted all year and that the area has good infrastructure due to other mining projects.
Bullish Gold Staying Strong
Gold remains a safe haven asset but is still vulnerable to fears of inflation and geopolitical uncertainties, as has been evidenced by the ongoing war between the U.S. and Iran. A May 29 article by Investing.com discussed how these tensions are affecting the metals markets, saying, "In the current environment, investors are increasingly worried that higher oil and energy costs linked to the Middle East crisis could fuel broader inflation pressures, forcing the Federal Reserve to maintain restrictive monetary policy." Often immune to stock fluctuations due to its critical usage needs, renewed suspicion of U.S. tariffs on China's copper exports has also caused the rates to drop.
However, the market opened strong on June 4, 2026, up 1.63% at US$4,505.90, due to a new ceasefire announcement between Iran and Lebanon.
Gold surged to a record high earlier in the year, hitting a high of US$5,000 per ounce in January, and many expect the rally to resume once international conflict cools down. In April, S&P Global wrote, "Gold is expected to remain volatile but structurally supported, with central bank demand and geopolitical risk helping to establish a price floor above recent correction lows."
Despite the volatility of gold, the sector as a whole is only showing signs of improvement. On May 7, 2026, Brian Taylor of Recycling Today said that the World Bank Group has predicted that overall global metals prices will rise by 17% in 2026, which would mark the first overall market increase since 2022.

A Junior Explorer "Worth Watching"
1In a March 16, 2026, contributed technical analyst opinion for Streetwise Reports, John Newell of John Newell & Associates gave Orestone a 'Speculative Buy' rating, noting that the stock had achieved its previous price target of CA$0.15. Newell has set the second target at CA$0.23 and the third target at CA$0.40. Regarding the company's projects, Newell discussed the Captain target in British Columbia and the Francisca target in Argentina, saying, "Because these projects are located in opposite hemispheres, exploration programs can often advance in one jurisdiction while seasonal conditions slow activity in the other. This creates the potential for more consistent exploration progress and year-round catalysts, something investors often look for in junior discovery stories."
Newell concluded his opinion with this: "With gold and copper markets strengthening and exploration programs advancing, Orestone is a company worth watching in the junior exploration sector."
CEO Announces "Multi-Million Ounce, Tier-One Asset"
Further information regarding additional prospecting and mapping results to the north and south of the known gold-silver zones on the Francisca properties will be released in the near future. In a company presentation on June 4, 2026, Hottman called the entire Francisca project a near-term catalyst that investors should be interested in, noting that work can be completed at the project year-round. He called the project a "multi-million-ounce target" and said, "The biggest reason to be a share owner is that you have a dedicated management team with a successful track record. We have a project that could be a game-changer and a tier-one asset.
Hottman said that assay results should begin coming in approximately 60 days after the 2026 drilling campaign at Francisca begins over the next one or two months.
