StrikePoint Gold Inc. (SKP:TSX.V; STKXF:OTCQB) announced the start of its initial 2026 drill program at the Hercules Gold Project in Nevadas Walker Lane, according to a release on February 26. Read why one technical analyst says has the potential to make waves in the markets.

StrikePoint Gold Inc. (SKP:TSX.V; STKXF:OTCQB) announced the start of its initial 2026 drill program at the Hercules Gold Project in Nevada’s Walker Lane, according to a release on February 26.

The program is set to include around 30 reverse circulation holes, totaling approximately 3,650 meters. The aim is to gather enough data for a maiden resource estimate, expected in Q3 2026.

"We acquired the Hercules Gold Project in August 2024 for CA$250,000 and immediately demonstrated its sizable potential following the completion of our inaugural National Instrument 43-101 Exploration Target," President and Chief Executive Officer Michael G. Allen said. "As we launch on this drill program, we have the confidence of a strong, predictive geological model of controls on mineralization. With a relatively modest drill program we will have the data to complete our maiden resource estimate. In addition, we’ve also recently, consolidated the southern portion of the property, giving us control over the past producing Como District, allowing for further expansion of our exploration efforts among several promising high-priority targets."

The program is anticipated to last about 45 days, with initial drill results expected in April 2026. After completing this initial drilling phase, the company said it plans to modify its current drill permits to include the newly acquired Como District.

StrikePoint recently consolidated the past-producing Como District by acquiring 51 unpatented claims.

Historical surface sampling has shown gold values of up to 166.62 grams per tonne gold (g/t Au) and silver values of up to 109.72 g/t silver (Ag),k the company said. In a historical surface sample database obtained by the company, a total of 623 samples covering the Como District and surrounding area currently controlled by StrikePoint were collected, with 93 of these samples returning grades greater than 1 g/t Au.

Consolidating Southern Part of Project

StrikePoint acquired the Como claims from Fronteer Development (USA) LLC, a subsidiary of Newmont Mining Corp. and further consolidates Hercules, allowing for expanded exploration in the southern part of the property, where several past-producing mines have undergone limited modern exploration.

"The historic data shows widespread gold and silver in surface sampling and historical drilling," Allen said at the time. "This transaction consolidates the southern portion of the Hercules Gold Project and allows for effective exploration in the future, along the 'Como Trend,' which extends between three historical producers: the previously controlled Hulley-Logan Mine, the Como District, and the previously controlled Pony Meadows Mine. The company expects to amend its existing Como Comet drill permit to allow for drilling on these newly acquired claims shortly."

The Como Trend, stretching from the past-producing Hulley-Logan open pit heap leach mine through the Como district and extending 5 kilometers northeast to the Pony Meadows Mine, has now been consolidated by StrikePoint.

The company said it plans to conduct drilling on the Como, Pony Meadows, and Sirens permits later in 2026, following the completion of drilling at Hercules.

"2026 will be a transformational year for StrikePoint," Allen said. "This work program is the beginning of an opportunity to unlock significant shareholder value as we believe the Hercules Gold Project is an underappreciated asset within the Walker Lane. The drill program will be the first step in rerating the company in an improving gold market."

StrikePoint has allocated a budget for a drilling initiative that includes approximately 30 reverse circulation holes, totaling around 3,500 meters. These holes are strategically planned to ensure adequate spacing to achieve a significant new resource estimate for the site. Drilling is expected to begin in early March and is projected to last up to 60 days. Initial assay results are anticipated by mid-April 2026, with the final results expected in June 2026. Following the drilling phase, data will be compiled to prepare a resource estimate, which is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026.

Situated about an hour from Reno, Nevada, the Hercules Gold Project spans roughly 100 square kilometers. The exploration target for Hercules was developed using historical drilling, trenching data, and gold assay results. Mineralization patterns were analyzed using artificial intelligence to create a trend model, which informed the development of grade shells alongside current geological insights. These grade shells were used to estimate the distribution of mineralized tonnes and assist in generating grade-tonnage curves.

The exploration target and AI-generated model will guide future drilling in these known mineralization zones, StrikePoint stated. The initial technical report released in March estimated between 819,000 and 1,018,000 ounces of gold within the mineralized material.

'The Market Hasn't Caught on —Yet'

1John Newell of John Newell & Associates commented that StrikePoint "may be one of the most overlooked gold exploration stories in Nevada's Walker Lane," in an article for Streetwise Reports on August 11.

He highlighted, "In a move that stunned insiders familiar with the asset, the company acquired the Hercules Gold Project, a large, fully permitted oxide gold system, for just US$250,000 after the asset had previously sold for US$25 million."

With fresh capital, a streamlined share structure, and an updated drilling plan, the company is starting to confirm a 1-million-ounce exploration target. "And the market hasn't caught on," Newell wrote. "Yet."

Newell described SKP.V as "a rare combination: deep-value optionality, a fully permitted oxide gold asset in one of the world's best mining jurisdictions, a proven technical and capital markets team, and a meaningful exploration target on a district-scale land package." He added, "Add in a tight share structure, current drilling, and the possibility of news flow in the coming months, and you have the ingredients for a speculative turnaround."

According to AI analysis of the stock's chart by StockInvest.us on February 26, "StrikePoint Gold Inc. holds several positive signals and is within a strong rising trend. As the old saying says, 'Let the trend be your friend.' We therefore consider it to be a good choice at these current levels and we are expecting further gains during the next three months. We have upgraded our analysis conclusion for this stock since the last evaluation from a Buy to a Strong Buy candidate."

The Catalyst: Sky-Prices Spark New Interest in Gold

Record-high gold prices are sparking renewed interest in the precious metal across the United States, according to a report by Trevor Hughes and Lauren Villagran for USA Today on February 27.

Some families, feeling the economic strain, are selling jewelry at pawnshops, while others are purchasing gold as a hedge against inflation. Over the past year, the U.S. government has acquired more than US$1 billion worth of gold. Typically, gold prices increase when the stock market is underperforming, as investors look for stability in a metal that often remains unused in government vaults, such as Kentucky's Fort Knox. However, what's unusual now is that gold is rising alongside a climbing stock market.

U.S. President Donald Trump has highlighted the rising stock market as evidence of his administration's economic achievements. He has also embraced gold as a symbol of his presidency, promising a new "Golden Age" for the country. This is reflected in the White House's decor, which features golden urns on the Oval Office fireplace mantel, golden coasters on the coffee table, and a new sign with gold lettering announcing the Oval Office.

Additionally, there are gold-leaf flourishes on the walls and ceilings, golden sconces in the Lincoln bathroom, and renderings show that the planned 90,000-square-foot ballroom will be adorned with gold accents.

Gold prices saw a slight increase on Friday, poised for significant gains in February as demand for safe havens was bolstered by rising geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty throughout the month, Peter Nurse reported for Investing.com on February 27. Spot gold was up over 6% in February, recovering from early-month lows after a speculative rally in gold quickly reversed.

Geopolitical tensions with Iran were a major factor in gold's rebound, as Washington increased its military presence in the Middle East and threatened action if Tehran did not agree to a nuclear deal. Although talks between Iran and the U.S. ended this week without an agreement, both sides committed to further discussions, sparking some optimism for a future deal.

Increased uncertainty over the U.S. economy also contributed to gold's rise, particularly following a U.S. Supreme Court decision that overturned most of President Donald Trump’s trade tariffs. In response, Trump announced new tariffs under a different legal framework and threatened additional levies, keeping markets uneasy about potential economic disruptions.
