Michael Ballanger Michael Ballanger of GGM Advisory Inc. shares his thoughts on the current state of the market and gives an update on one copper stock on his list.

USD index futures are up 0.10% to 107.060, with the 10-year yield up 0.68% to 4.575% and the 30-year up 0.63% to 4.793%.

Gold (+0.33%), silver (+0.36%), oil (+1.09%), and copper (+0.10%) are higher.

Stock futures are lower, with the DJIA (-0.25%) down 110.2 points, the S&P 500 (-0.20%) down 12.5 points, and the NASDAQ (-0.10%) down 23.25 points.

Risk barometer Bitcoin is up 0.02% to $96,431.

Stocks

The markets did as expected yesterday, but the move to all-time highs in the S&P 500 came in the final fifteen minutes of trading. It never fails to astound me how the regulators can turn a blind eye to obvious "tape-painting," as we witnessed yesterday.

However, that move has been negated by the weak opening indicated by the S&P futures down 12.50 points. I remain a bear on the broad stock market and look to the volatility trade and a possible entry into the SPY:US put options for March expiry.

Fitzroy

Fitzroy Minerals Inc.'s (FTZ:TSX.V; FTZFF:OTCQB) drill hole described on February 10 at Caballos is out for assay at the lab in Santigo, but the "check assays" are being shipped to another lab in Peru for further testing.

Usually, that is a positive "hint" as to grade and width, but as a shareholder, it might also be wishful thinking on my part.

Results are expected around month-end so just wait for them and do not chase!
