Jack Chan Technical analyst Jack Chan charts the latest moves in the precious metals market, including how changes in the USD could affect gold prices.

Our proprietary cycle indicator turned down this week, reflecting the selloff.

chanhui4-29
The gold sector is on a long-term buy signal. Long-term signals can last for months and years and are more suitable for investors holding for long term.

chanhui42-29
The gold sector is on a short-term sell signal. Short-term signals can last for days and weeks, and are more suitable for traders.

chanusd4-29
We've been bullish on USD and bearish on gold since 2011. But early this year when USD made a new recovery high, gold did not make a lower low, thus resulting in a divergence that has bullish implications.

chanusd24-29
USD has been on a major buy signal since 2011, but is now testing support, and if support fails, USD will reverse to a major sell signal, which is supportive for higher gold prices.

chanhui34-29
The correction since February is expanding, now with resistance and support. The longer the consolidation, the more powerful the eventual breakout.

chansilver4-29
Silver is on a long-term buy signal.

chanslv4-29
SLV is on a short-term sell signal, and short-term signals can last for days to weeks, more suitable for traders.

Summary
The precious metals sector is on major buy signal. The cycle is down, barely. The multi-month consolidation continues.
